another question for the gods
my sport is a great going wee car BUT when u get btween 3500 and 4000 revs it seems to drag. on the sunday run it seemed ok after a good wee burst (yeh no1 was speeding!), and im wondering if it was the air filter , would a wee burst like that affect it or would it stay the same all the time? ulsterscooby what was the type of filter u told me 2 get? a fast flow 1 or sumthing? (blonde).

mine does the same thign primarily when cold, and is fine once warm, so i`ve been driving it easy.
in the end i went and ordered a MAF yesterday at edwin long subaru after being let down the other night on one locally... which is a right PITA as its another £88 i dont have to be spending on the car.
i`d rather spend £88 than have something nasty happen tho

2.0l forresters do the same thing, may be as simple as plug gaps get em checked i bet it cures the problem. the best upgrade for a sport is a fuel pressure regulator, makes em pull a bit better and clears any flat spots. p.s there is no maf on ur car

im confused. is ther def no maf? im thinkin it could be the water pump. car was supposed 2 have had a new timing belt recently, but by the look of the bolts holdin the cover on , its NEVER been replaced. theyr crumbling away. cant even get the no of the guy who was supposed 2 have changed it. any of u guys know? he specialises in scoobys in armagh. ill get in contact with him and ask him direct, cos the guy the car was bought of was adamant it was changed. the timing belt drives the water pump doesnt it? mite just buy a new of each of these and get them on.
