Default 500 bhp???

Been looking for a type r for some time now and found an example for sale in N.I at murraycars, Briefly its a 2,2 all steel enngine built by Roger Clarke Motorsport with a GT30 rotated turbo, Motec m800 management, water injection??, and all supporting modifications.
I spoke to a guy on the phone and he's told me that he has all receipts with the car showing £34,000 Spent on modifications alone.
The sales guy (who seemed quite keyed in) told me that the boost is running at 1.5 bar at 450bhp estimated but the car is capable of 500bhp and has beem mapped by Bob Rawle in a very safe manner.
My questions are
1. Who is Bob Rawle?
2. Could this car ever hope to be 500bhp
3 Has anyone ever dealt with these guys?
4 Am I being a complete clown by asking these questions?

Bob Rawle is a legendary tuner from England - Knows his stuff inside out, have not dealt with him personally, but the technical forums on here treat him like a God......

Car IS capable of 500bhp, though I dont know how reliable/ how often it would need rebuilt...would have to say it doesnt sound like a daily driver LOL

The only stupid question is the one that isnt asked.....Try posting in the general section as there are a lot of people from England that will answer your post in more details than I could ever manage....

Good luck matey

Been and had a look/chat today. What a car! Nice enough guy who knows his Subarus but not pushy. Bit of a petrolhead by all accounts.
Just need to sell that kidney now.

1. Who is Bob Rawle?
Bob Rawle is a very good man to have map your car.

2. Could this car ever hope to be 500bhp
Every car could hope to have that sort of power with the right bits...but with the current list of mods. Id say yes, but not at 1.5 bar boost. Wind it up to 2 bar, and it would be possible, although it is pushing the top end of a GT30 ( I assume its a GT30R ? and not just a GT30 ? ) And it also depends how "safe" it is mapped. Safety can cost some power...just depends if its very safe, or just normal.
It could be mapped to cope with the use of UL, or SUL, or the likes of V-Power in England. So even that covers a wide scope. Safe on V-Power, wont be quite as safe on regular SUL we get over here...

3 Has anyone ever dealt with these guys?
Nope, but Mr Murray is indeed a petrol head, and I doubt he'd lead you astray. He loves his Subarus !

4 Am I being a complete clown by asking these questions?
Of course not

Thought my ears were burning for a reason !
Thanks for the positive feedback lads. Rodney s/turbo is correct in saying that that bhp isnt acheivable @ 1.6 bar but I think I mentioned that the car is mapped to run safely@ 2.1 bar on sul and I choose to run @ 1.6 when taking anyone for a test and I think you'll agree its plenty fast at that.
The engine was built by Matt Clarke in 2004 spec and has ran 6000 miles only since. I believe for the longevity 1.6 is a more sensible "on the road" setting keeping the higher setting for "special" occasions.
Stevie: It is indeed a GT30 R turbo.
Im away to sniff some petrol fumes lol.

I really really wish I could afford this really awesome car but it is not to be.
Sorry Paul but its beyond my budget. On the positive side Ive met a genuine enthusiast and thats where I will deal once I have the cash.
Four stars mate.
