Question

I'm looking for a bucket seat for my new stock car which is under construction now . Does anybody know where I'd get one ? I'll consider anything as long as it's in reasonable condition and not too dear . I've looked at new ones at £70 + vat but they don't seem to be very supportive or well enough padded for my purpose ( I'm getting old and bruise more easily ). One of the dearer ones 2/h would be a better option .

Turbo,

What sort of speed do you do in the Stock Car?

Id be sorta worried about buying second hand in case it had been in a smash. If the seat was already weakened it would possibly fail in another big dig!

Just my thoughts though

Sul

David - I've already tried Montgomerys . That's where I saw the £70 seat . Buy and sell's worth a try though .

Sul - You get flat out in 2nd so about 40 - 50 mph ( no speedo , only a rev counter ) . If you seen the seat in the existing car you wuoldn't worry about buying 2nd hand . It was a bucket once but half the padding's gone . The frame's still sound though . The car's been in several 'big digs' in my hands and by the shape of it when I bought it was in several others in the previous owners hands . It's now starting to split between the front bulkhead and floorpan and that's why I'm reshelling it . Someone came up to me at my last race and told me that he remembers the car racing 12 years ago and it looked rough then ! He couldn't believe it was still running . And they say peugeots have a soft body ( it's a 309 GTI ) .

Question

Vans ,

Is it a proper motorsport seat or is it the type that comes fitted in some cars ? Has it got slots in it for a 4 point harness and does it come round well at the sides ?

Derek,
The seat was originaly fitted in a Ford Escort but the person who owned the car did not use it. I will have a look at it and get back to you on Friday or early next week at the latest. It is very comfortable, big and it could be used in a road car no problem.
