I got an e-mail today from Trackskills , the organisers of the track day at Kirkiston on Sunday 22nd April . Despite the new f&m outbreaks they are still running track days , mainly because they attract so few spectators .
So any of you that were going to Mondello , why not come to Kirkiston instead . The last track day there was populated by buzzy little MX5's so why don't we let them know what a real car sounds (and goes) like .

Paul - can you contact the porsche owners club and let them know about it too and maybe we could make a good day out of it .

So anyone up for it ?

Derek

Yeah I told them,
Some of them might come.

Tell me .....how long will it take me to get there.....normal speed not scooby speed.

I just had my car prepared for Mondello so I'm lookinf forward to the day.

New mods include Link ECU, Prodrive/Alcon Brakes, P1 wheels and tyres (just for the track), Adjustable suspension, water spray, water injection.

Is there somewhere there to store my coming home wheels and a way of changing them?

C U There,

Paul.

The facilities are fairly limited at Kirkiston as regards storage . You could try contacting Donal and asking him . I will probably need storage space as well unless I can get one of my mates to bring his car along as I am bringing a few tools and spares . Donal provides an air compressor for blowing up wheels and I intend to bring my air wrench as I'm fitting a set of slicks on when I get there . You can borrow it and my jack if you want .
It would probably take you as long as it takes to get to Belfast , depending on what way you go . You could either go across on the Strangford ferry and drive up the Ards peninsula or drive up to Newtownards and down the peninsula .
I would advise you to bring a couple of jerry cans of SUL as well as I can't remember if the local (about 5 miles from the track) petrol station sells SUL . Its a lot cheaper with you anyway and you will not believe how much more you use going hard around a track .

The day starts at 10 am when they take you round the track in groups in a 306 TD estate to show you the braking , turn in , apex and exit points . The guy who takes you round is a registered ARDS instructer and he makes it all look very easy . You then have a short drivers briefing giving driving tips and safety points . If you have never driven at Kirkiston you would be wise to be there for this . Otherwise Donal has told me as long as you are there by 12 midday you will get your 4 x 15 min sessions .

Your car is supposed to be quick . It'll certainly be louder . There's a thought - Is there any noise restrictions at mondello cause your car might not pass them ?

Can you suggest the best route from Dublin direction? I was thinking ...Newry ....Belfast.... and then down or should I go to Portaferry and get the ferry? Any ideas what time this ferry runs at?

Not 100% sure but I think the ferry runs almost constantly and the crossing is only a couple of minutes.
