Question Tried to take my type r

As above a group of people tried to take my type r from me two weeks ago. They thought they were being real smart and clever. They arrived and parked cars at the top of my street, then they just walked down the street climbing over a locked and chained gate. They then spent twenty minutes taking my steering and plastics apart. They then went away and collected bolt cutters and used them to cut the lock on gates and on my car. They also broke into an old metro parked behind it and this was there down fall because the dic#heads pushed it into the gate trying to get it out.Anyway what they didnt realise was that one my car has a tracker/pager and i would have got them anyway most importantly they were on candid camera the whole time.Due to increased crime in are area ,in are street there is a number of infra red cameras fitted to various houses and other locations so there whole attempt with there cars driving up and down the street keeping dick for them is on film.At the start the police were crap but when they realised what evidence we had got you want to see the service we got. When it happened they were already in the area in plain clothes, single drivers and un marked cars.I know realise that they were watching the thieves or car as when the officer watched the video he said that was exactly what he needed and he smiled when he seen there faces.Since then the police have been constantly calling with updates etc but i am just wandering if anyone on here has suffered a similiar fate?

Firstly, Glad you did not get the car stolen and have the right kind of evidence to hopefully get a result eventually in the courts. All being well if the police get their act together it sounds as if they will be convicted.
Without asking you to give too much information where abouts are you? (Location/area not your exact address). How much damage was done to your car? Did they manage to immobilise your external alarm?
Congrats on being switched on enough to make it difficult to steal; and have a good enough array of security to provide a case against the scrots involved! Hope you get the car back on the road soon.

Live in south belfast although car will never be parked here again as i also have a run about. They punched the lock(hardly visible)unscrewed all the plastic surrounds and layed all screws etc neatly. They then removed the barrel without damaging it and only broke a small amount of metal of the column to do this. Then removed a steering wheel lock and snipped the chain.I only had a ****ty alarm but didnt have it on as my previous wrx, tigra, gsi cav, escort turbo and golf gti had never been touched in driveway as the other cars blocked them in and the gates were chained. My advice aside from a tracker is to d-lock fit security film and get a expensive alarm as i have learned. Also employ a farmer with a shot gun or one of your mates its amazing the offers people make looking for a bit of sport to catch them

If I get this right the cops were in the area and watched them. Why did they not arrest them red handed? Or did they only nothice them when they were driving away.

Wifes cars have been broken into maybe 12-15 times over the last 6 or so years. 1 conviction in all that time. South Belfast also.

Cops were in area 2 minutes response to my mums call and they swamped area so i assume they were waiting for thieves to take a car. This is far to fast to be a fluke as i am sure you know they normally take hours. They told me not to touch cars at time yet they didnt arrive out next day at all. They only started showing an interest when my mum complained and explained are evidence.Where you from and what you drive its a wonder we havent bumped into each other,i used to have a white wrx

who installed the cameras? was it the police? how do they select who gets a camera? did they see your scoob and think it could be a potential target.

Have you guys ever heard of electricfying your car as protection? Thief is a big thing in the States too and in NJ, it's a problem. Subies are gone left and right, even with the latest alarms and tracking devices. The only thing I have seen and heard that defeats the thieves are the immobilizers within the STI key and EVO keys so far.

Good work keeping the shumucks out and away.
