Tried to get yesterday. couldn't get within 5 miles of the place. heard later the guards had called off the event due to health and safety reasons. Even made the radio announcements yesterday afternoon. estimated 20000 ?? people there.

yup, by all accounts a complete disaster, organised by greedy ****es who did a runner when the going got tough, delighted I decided not to go... feel very sorry for those that travelled to it... most irish forums are on fire about this, the organisers "flush bus" mag are neck deep in this now!

I was 5 mins from leaving for Longford when something came up. Thank goodness I didn't make the trip. What a bunch of ****.
That'll be the end of 1/4 miles in Ireland for a while then I guess.

I made the trip along with many others off just-cruizin, bangorcruise and rms. We did 95 miles in a little over 1hr 50mins and the last 2 miles took us 2hrs 30mins. The Garda had been told to expect between 4000/5000 and flush bus themselves had visions of only 1500 turning up. WHY? ? ? ?
Crying out loud, this was to be the first ever legal 1/4 mile drag racing event in Ireland all thy had to do was look at the forums too see how much interest this was stirring up. In sayin that we had a blast going down in convoy and similar craic comin home so it wasn't all bad.

and to think I was fuming at having to work on sunday morning!
Pretty good idea from what I've heard, hire a bit of bog land, take cash at the gates and **** off when things get out of hand!
There's a lesson to be learnt there, anyone able to get a few flyers printed up cheap and a bit of "word of mouth" on the go? I fancy a new house and a WR1!

yup they do sad thing is there are plenty of muppets who will line their pockets again... Most Irish enthusiasts are starved of cheap competitive motorsport opportunities so they will make a killing again.... bloody disgraceful
