Sounds like crank sensor, do a search on here and check codes, but they usually fail when the engine is warm.

Right I had same problem with mine a few weeks ago. This is the advice I was given and it was spot on

If it wont start...generally when hot and has been left for a short period of time...disconnect and reconnect the 'crank sensor'. Try starting the car. If it starts it needs a new 'crank sensor'.

If it still doesn't start do the same with the 'cam sensor'.

If it still doesn't start I aint got a clue.

Mine was a faulty 'crank sensor' and every time it wouldn't start I just quickly disconnected and reconnected the plug and she fired up straight away. I fitted a 2nd hand one and she has been fine since.

Phil,
I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago, turn out that the grounding for the starter motor needed to be sorted. Just removed the connectors cleaned greased and reconnected. Never been a problem since, although the starter motor is a nightmare to get to.

Crank sensor is under the alternator and the cam sensor is on the right hand camshaft looking from the front. Easy to pull connector off to try, 10mm spanner to remove the sensor, easy job...5mins.

I got a 2nd hand one from Scoobyclinic for £40. I heard a new one is about £180.
