Which seats?
Hiya all
I have a Classic Impreza Sport MY97 Saloon and havent had it long and needs revamping
I am looking to fit some bucket seats
Is there any particular ones I need to look out for to fit in or are they all pretty much the same?
Do Wagon seats fit Saloon?
Does it matter about the year etc?
Any help would be appreciated!

All fronts, up to an MAYBE including the hatch, fit all models.
Rears from a saloon will fit saloons and those from a wagon will fit a wagon.
The fronts from newage cars fit classics, but many people find they sit too high in them......apparently there is a way of getting them to sit lower, but I'm not sure what it is or how hard it is.
Classic seats are all getting a bit long in the tooth now. I found an almost pristine set of STi6 seats for my 98 classic, paid £250 for fronts and rears, they are still nice and I prefer them to some of the ones in the newage cars which seem to be made for the more lardy driver
I also got an almost unused set of doorcards from a late 00 model for £60 off e-bay.
Lastly, £100 for a half-decent set INCLUDING doorcards is a little optimistic
Problems multiply fitting fronts as they get younger, with side airbags etc.

Look carefully at ebay ones, if at ALL possible, go and pick up, having asked about condition, just so as you aren't disappointed
As for fitting, front seats is 4 bolts, so you need a socket set, or access to one.
The only thing to remember here is that the bolts appear to be made of some uber-soft alloy........dunno why, but they strip easy
So you have to thread them ALL in by hand, which is easy if you move the seat slightly for each one until it goes in easy, then nip up with the socket set.
Rears: remove two bolts on front edge of seat base, lift it and remove it.
That will reveal three more on lower edge of seat back. Remove those, give the seat back a sharp upwards knock at both ends to release it off the clips, then remove that.
Replacement is the reverse, make sure it goes over the clips, before bolting the back down, ditto, make sure the base is clipped to the back before bolting it down.
Can be done in ten minutes, in and out
Watch out of swapping a rear that split folds/feeds through for one that doesn't. You MUST get both the support bar, with it's bolts and the underside-covers from the newer seat.

Something to consider is where your switches are such as mirrors and windows. On some models they are all located on the driver's side door while others are in the centre.
