How Do I Remove the Centre Console From A Facelift Classic??
How guys,
I've just fitted a new stereo and I'm having a mare fitting it with all the new wires behind it.
I beleive if I remove the centre console surround, the bit that goes around the stereo I will be able to do. Thing is I can't work out how to remove the surround.
I know the top part pulls out, but the bottom bit by the ashtray and cigerette lighter is fastened tight, but I can't see any screws and I don't want to pull it just in case I break it.
Any ideas?

I'm not sure but is that not a separate part? I thought the top part surrounding the stereo and the bit going around the handbrake and gear lever were two separate parts.

LOL
Lift the centre glovebox lid, prize up and remove the two screw covers at the front, undo and remove the two screws.
The whole thing now unclips if you apply firm upwards pressure starting at the rear. To take it off completely, you'll need to unscrew the gearknob first: if it's a standard one it just unscrews anti-clockwise. But if it's never been off, it WILL be tight
