Air vent guage???

Air vent guage???
Morning
I have seen a few pics on here of people who have mounted a gauge in the right hand dash air vent. I like this idea as i am only wanting one gauge in the car and it looks nice almost oem and real tidy.
Couple of questions, do you have to buy a specific fitting kit or gauge to get a good fit?? Does the heat, which i am guessing still goes upto where the vent used to be, cause a problem??
And finally how easy is it to do, i am wanting to fit an oil temp gauge - so i can make sure the car is properly upto temperature when out driving it??
Any help would be most welcome.
Regards
Ralph

I've done this on my car.
Make sure the gauge you buy is 60mm or 62mm. And then to make sure it's nice a snug simply add some wrap etc.
Removing the inner part of the vent is a pain. You need to unclip the bottom part of the dash and remove the speedo clusters etc.
Also best bet to put vaccum pipe is to remove the plug just above the pedals and feed it through.
Also remember to block the vent up. I used a pringle lid I think and some duck tape. Job done.

Sounds fairly straightforward Steve, don't suppose you have any pics of yours fitted?? What gauge did you use?? I am trying to get it as OEM as possible so going to be looking for a green backlit one I think.

It is mate. Just take your time. I think it is the top right bolt which is the bugger. Worst case give it some welly with force with a flat head.
I use a SAGA Racing gauge. Does the trick and is pretty spot on. Not GREEN back light though.
Will take some pics once I am back from Amsterdam.
