Default fitting an aftermarket wheel: classic

what the heck do you do with the black circle thing that has wires on it from behind the original wheel? cant see how its physically retained using an aftermarket boss but i think i need it to place the air bag resistor in?

i just fitted a after market steering wheel and i got a boss but didn t need it in end it fitted fine or is the boss for somethink particular other than just fitting
