Default Will this affect the boost gauge reading?

Went to look at a sti ver.3 and the boost gauge had a problem. The small pin on which the needle rests when the car is off is broken, resulting in the needle resting a quarter of the gauge past the last reading. Now when boosting, the gauge still says its in vacuum and when at full boost is at 0.5 bar. Is this reading correct or is the gauge knackered?

Thanks for any help

Sami
