Well does your dash look like that minus the gauges?
Or do you have a top pocket and a cup holder?

the problem is that my fan speed is adjusted by a slide bar rather than the ****. i was wondering if they are interchangeable. are the plugs in the back the same or do i need to do a lot of modifying to get it to fit?

Oh right, you have the later dash then, like this:

Not tried it, but it would be a fair bit of work.

the diff between mine and the top one is the slide fan adjustment rather than the ****, i was just wondering if it is easy enough to change it over to the **** or is it a mission.

the style above is the JDM style where as the UK ones mostly came with the slide bar rather than the **** adjustment

I personally don't think it would work, as I looked into getting a double din import fascia for mine. I'm pretty sure the back of my controls are manual ones. So when I up the fans speed or change the fan position, there is a lever behind the control actually doing something. And from what I found out, the import ones were in a different position, so looked like the whole settings were controlled electronically. If you know what I mean.

could always cut the top off the new gauge holder bit and make it fit onto mine with fibreglass and then paint it

where there is a will there is a way haha
