Hi guys.

One of those things I've kept meaning to post...

I had the lambda and knock gauges/gizmos fitted by the excellent Mr Rawle when installing a Link. Trouble is, they don't half look naff stuck in front of where the ashtray used to be.

Obvious question: anyone come up with a way of making them look (installation-wise) a bit more professional? Pod of some kind?

I know Mossman's got them in the dash - but they won't go in the same place in an MY99.

Any ideas?

I've got the Lambda Link fitted flat in the little tray in front of the gearlever (beneath the ashtray), and the Knock Link is fitted in the corner on top of the dashboard by the pillar.

I wanted the Knock Link where I could see it easily. I wasn't too bothered about the Lamda Link ( - to be honest, I'm still not too sure what I'm supposed to be looking for with the Lambda Link, apart from the fact that if I boot it, the green light(s) are supposed to come on!).

Anyway, it's about as neat an arrangement as I could get IMO.

Pete

(Edited for spelling!)

Hi Dave,

Yup, mounted mine in a 3 gauge pod !

Remove the top of each box (lambdalink and knocklink)
Cut the appropriate no. of holes (for the LEDs) in the pod
Mount the remainder of the box behind, with the LEDs poking through.

Bit fiddly, but the end result is pretty good.

Cheers

Neat, Adam... but what's Nick being so mysterious about?

Adam, so you're using the pod to hold the knock&lambda... so no guages in the pod?? Or did I miss something in yer post?

I'm trying to find a neat installation too. Would be nice with just the LEDs somewhere near the rest of the speedo/rev-guages. Don't need the extreeeemly large black container-thingies...

Chiark is probably way ahead of us and the meanest cleanest installment will be up on his website v.v. soon, or...?

For the knock link, dismantle the box and mount the LEDs in easy sight. You could be trick and run spiral cable (rally style) to the steering wheel and mount them there.

Lambda link ... the same or get a better gauge.

Hi All

I've got an SPA dual display gauge in the middle (boost and oil temp).

I just didn't like the look of the black boxes but thought that as I was going to spend the money I wanted to make sure they'd be easy to read ... and I'm pretty happy with the pod solution.

I was chatting to the guys at Power Station [1] and they were talking about mounting the boxes down at the bottom of the windscreen on the extreme right ....

Cheers

Adam

I have seen the knock display LEDs installed sticking through the clock surround. It looked really neat.
