ianch - I too was put off by the price of Defis and after much research etc, bought these:
http://domain887009.sites.fasthosts....iewCat&catId=4
They are from - www.gaugeplace.com
I'm always a bit dubious about eBay for these types of things, at least these are coming from a reliable supplier and a very helpful guy.
I think they are very good for the price and have the 'black' stealth look until the ignition is turned on and then they light up.
Pictures of these fitted to my car can be seen here (www.wrx-carpc.co.uk) under the 'photo' section.
Good luck and i'm sure you won't be dissapointed with these Gauges.
Regards,
Steve

Yes mate very easy. I say easy, i got someone to do them for me as i am not particularly mechanically minded !! I did the physical fitting of them to the car and the electrics with no problems at all as this is my area of expertise (thus the CarPC!!)
However, what ever make of Gauge you buy, you will still have to have the parts fitted to the engine to send signals to the Gauges. ie Boost and Oil Temp / Pressure sender units.
The good bit about these Gauges is they come with all that is required, ie all the necessary sender units.
In my opinion, and that of others, do not go for a Sandwich plate for the Oil sender unit. I had a specific line fitted for this unit.

Steve

I personally went for Oil Pressure and Boost. I didn't see the need to have Oil Temp as i thought Oil Pressure was the most important one to show if things were going wrong with the Oil.
Wiring is very easy, as all they need are +ve (from ignition / accessory line), GND and then each of the sender units has a line to connect to the Gauges.
I will put something together, which i have been meaning to do for my own purpose and send it accross to you.
I have had a line fitted from the engine block which the Oil pressure sender unit attaches directly too.
I will include this in the documentation i am putting together.
Speak laters,
Steve

Oil temp is still important to monitor. IIRC excessive oil temp can lead to bearing failure. Boost, oil temp/pressure fitted to mine.
