Trying to find a guage pod
Hi all,
I have just bought 3 x 52mm guages for my MY97. I currently have a single dash pod@bottom of a-pillar that will be removed when these are fitted. I don't really want to mount the new guages on the a-pillar as I think they will be a bit obtrusive. I've seen the following pod which looks absolutely perfect:
The problem is that the heater controls are different on my car (because it's uk? Or MY97?). Basically mine has two dials & two sliders to control the heater. Does anyone know if the above pod is available for a UK MY97?
Cheers,
Jamie

Hi Jamie, I've got the same pod as that in mine, it does look the biz but not sure if it'll fit the dash with the slider controls...
I got it from MilSport It may be worth contacting them direct to see if it fits, the chap I spoke to was very helpful...
HTH,

Cheers Gazza,
I'll give MilSport a call to see if they do another one, or if my controls can be modified to fit that one - it looks quality.
What did you do with the air ducts - block them off or just leave them blowing on to the dials? Can't imagine the hot air can be to good for the dials. And if you blocked 'em off I guess the outer vents would be stronger to compensate for losing the inner ones.
I hope I can get one like this for my car, really don't want guages all the way up the a-pillar!

Scoobymods? Did a search and found this. They don't look the same mate - similar, but not the same. I think one looks like a slightly better design.

For info:
Just spoke to MilSport and unfortunately they don't do this for the UK cars with the slider, only the imports with the electric controls.
So has anyone got any alternatives or am I consigned to a triple a-pillar pod? Surely someone else with a UK <MY98 has fitted more than one gauge!

Just spent about an hour on the search facility and have found this little gem:
But I cannot find another picture of one with gauges fitted! Has anyone got a pic of this pod fitted?

Had a similar problem myself, didn't want to put them on the pillar so i decided to have a go at making one.
Started off with a block of high density closed cell foam and carved it into the shape i wanted using a bread knife and stanely blades, then covered it in brown packing tape to act as a release agent. I then put two layers of fibreglass matting on it allowing the first to flash off for about an hour. This gave me the basic shape all be it a little rough in places
I then used some fibreglass reinforced filler to get the shape right and fix any thin areas.
When i was happy with the shape i then cut out the holes for the 60mm Defi's and sent it away to a specialist to get it flocked!
For those of you who dont know how this works, the item is covered in a two pack glue and put into a statically charged room. The item becomes negatively charged (i think might be the other way round cant remember) and tiny nylon fibres are sprayed from a positively charged gun the result being that they are attracted to the item and stick into the glue giving a suede type finish which is very tough and durable but also looks really neat in my opinion.
I've still to attach the pod to the dash and as you can see it's still very much work in progress! These pics dont really do it justice, they were taken in the garage tonight with only the camera's flash. Once it's all done ill get some more.
So if you can mix up fibreglass no harm in having a go, this way you can make it sit anywhere on the dash you want.

try this link http://speeding.co.uk/acatalog/Race_X_Interior.html, for a triple gauge plate that fits in spare radio hole, if you have one spare.
