Defi gauge wiring
#1
I've just got hold of a Defi boost gauge but the fitting instructions are in Japanese!
I think I can work out which plug in bits go where but does anyone know how to wire it in to the car (ie which colour wire goes where?)
Craig?
Anyone?

Pete T,
You're in luck mate. I've just received my
gauges from the group buy this week and as
you say all the instructions are in Japanese.
As luck would have it we have had 3 Japanese
students staying with us as part of our Judo club so I got them to translate the wiring codes.
It is
+12V - Red
Ignition - Orange
Illumination - White
Ground - Black
Illumination is a +12v feed when lights on.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Chris

Pete,
If you could please mail me a copy also (I got my guages this week from NAM also) it would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt.

Pete,
I would appreciate a copy of the manual/guide
as the students only had time to translate the wiring codes -
I was wondering how I was
going to set up the peak warning leds etc.
email is as the profile or below

Thanks

Ok you guys any body got any info on where the hole is on no 3 cylinder is? to take the oil temp sensor.
Apart from the oil sump , I think Craig from NAM mentioned about " a hole above No. 3 cylinder to take temp sensors - this is a little fiddly to reach......"

Thanks for that Pete - wired them up last night (to test them before I start on installing them (learnt that the hard way I can tell you )) and had much amusement from the wife (sucking/blowing down the Boost Guage Vaccum pipe, dipping the Oil Temp sender in a cup of boiling water and putting a foot pump on the Oil Pressure sender.... (all tests worked though ))
Anybody know if the Oil Pressure sender will fit straight in the OE Oil Pressure sender thread behind/underneath the Alternator??? (that would be *far* to simple right? ) and what's this about the No 3 "hole", it *that* the right thread type/size???? Anybody???

Don't know, she was busy watching telly so I didn't think to ask her to give it a try Anyway, when you suck, you are measuring the Vaccum which is measured in Milligrammes or something so even if she had sucked, I wouldn't be able to answer your question (I also didn't get her to blow either )

Matt,
The Defi oil sender will fit into the original oil pressure switch location,as far as the oil temp on no3 you have to buy the same adaptor as used for the oil pressure take off(the 17mm adaptor). If you look down the drivers side of the block near the turbo you will see a 8mm allen plug remove that and then put your adaptor plug in.
Oh yeah make sure you use PTFE tape on all the threads.

Sorry Rob, I haven't got an EGT, only Boost, Oil Press and Oil Temp.....
Steve, thanks once again for your help, I finished them last night and the mount on No. 3 with the Subaru adaptor is a great mounting point.
Thanks again,
Matt
