About 3 weeks ago I took my P1 into my local dealer with a rattle coming from the nearside rear panel. Apparently a clip which holds the cloth panel to the metal panel had broken off. The dealer said he would order a replacement. Spoke to the dealer again today, no sign of the panel coming yet, it has to come from Japan. Also it appears that his demonstrator has the same problem.

Is this a general problem then?

Have any of you out there had the same?

I am currently waiting, with no promise of when my replacement will be delivered.

Don't think much of Subaru's service for what was/is their 'Best Impreza Yet'

Steve

Question

Steve

My P1 has exactly the same problem, I have tried for ages with the dealer to locate the source of the noise. I have run the car with the rear panel removed, it is not that area. It appears to come from the boot hinges, the dealer tightened my boot latch and it appeared to vanish for a few days, its back again now though.

How many owners have experienced this problem?

The noise is only low frequency but it spoils the ride.

My P1 is in today for service and to have an annoying creak/rattle from the rear nearside interior panel/ window sound stopped(hopefully). Initially I thought that the window was loose or something but it seems to be the panel. I thought I saw a thread on here dealing with something similar where it was suggested that the solution was to remove the panel put some layers of insulating tape on whatever's underneath and screw it all back together.

I'll let you know how they get on.

Same problem with the nearside rear panel.

I have waited since August for a replacement which eventually turned up a few days ago.

I think a lot of cars (P1) may suffer with a rattle from here as it is removed at Quedgley when certain bits and bobs are being fitted .

I've also got a really loud squeak from the offside rear which sounds like the boot or something. Still cant pin it down despite having all the panels out.

I've noticed an occasional sort of ticking/creaking noise that seems to eminate from behind the centre light. Though lately it's gone.

Cars coming up for its 1st 1K mile service & they're going to have a looksee/hearsee.

Fantastic machine though, warts an all.

D'ont know if this is of any use but I had a similar problem on my STi and solved it myself by sticking some foam cushion in the door panel
