Question

I am looking for a gauge which: -

Is of a good quality
Matches MY00 trim
Is easy to fit - preferably not on the A-pillar
Is reasonably priced.

Ideas?

Try GGR, I think they do the STI ones which sit on the steering column and will match your trim.

Or you could go to your Subaru dealer and get a pod to replace the dash top bin with 3 gauges but @ about £300 its a bit expensive

Hmm, you don't want an a-pillar unit. If you're really sure (you can get very good a pillar mounts) then you've got two options: the STI gauge, which is expensive, or something in the centre console tray, which really needs 3 gauges to fill it.

Other option would be a single pod stuck on the dash. Saw a couple at Donny and they didn't look at all bad.

The autometer gauge from Scoobymania is cheap and by all accounts accurate...

The Defi gauge is the only gauge I've seen that illuminates like the MY98/99/00 standard gauges. It's not cheap, but the correct illumination is quite important to me, for a standard feel! I quite fancy the 60mm gauge, but are also available in 52mm.

He-he - the dealer fit STi gauge costs ~£100 fitted in Switzerland.....someone's got a good markup

Ayone want to buy one for £150 plus postage?

Dowser, just out of interest are there two sorts of Defi gauges? Nito sells the full electronic one, with control unit and "replay" functionality...

Nito - are there other options?

Hi Chiark,

There's only the one type option for Defi-links (electronic in either black or white and 52mm or 60mm). Remember it's the new style MY01 WRX STi which uses defi gauges. The old scoob MY98 on which Dowser refers to as pictured above on the shroud is a Lamco gauge which STi offered as an option on the version 4/5/6 sti's!

With regards to HKS gauges in the Subaru pod, it's difficult to get a neat fit but you can see the new style HKS 46mm fitted in Russells P1 in the members gallery here
