Hello Folks,

something rather irritating has happened to the drivers side rear door window.

When the window is up there is a nasty rattle from within the bottom of the door casing....when the window is down there is nearly no noise.

Is their a glass guide that runs within the door (there must be) that is prone to dropping out ?

Regards

Ian

I know a few people who have had the same sort of problem. In my case it was the trim rattling against the door (at the bottom). The plastic trim sits loose on the plugs that fasten it to the door.
You should be able to find full details about how to fix it on one of my other postings. Search for 'door' or 'rattle' or just my postings and you should find it.

Hope this is it.

I have seen this problem mentioned numerous times and think I have the answer.

If all models' window guides are the same as my 93MY WRX, there are two window guiders on the top of each door frame underneath the door trim.

To get the door trims off (from memory) unscrew the screw in the door handle recess, hold the door release mech. open and pull off the surround to the release mech.

The door trim simply clips off, (the clips are as flimsy as the hard board they are mounted into) and wallah!

The window guiders are bolted on to the top of the door frames, unbolt the top guiders and pull out the part which sits against the inner edge of the glass.

This part has a fabric face which is sort of like a velour but with a deeper pile.
Over a period of time this compresses and needs to be back combed to regain its original texture.

Then re-fit the top guider with a firm (but not hard), pressure pushing against the window glass.

This also stops the annoying (cheap low quality) door rattle which occurs when the door is closed with the windows down. My doors now close with a solid clunk.

Hope this is the answer you were looking for.

Mike.
