Is there a steering lock on 97 Imprezas (Sport). When I take the keys out of the ignition, I can still freely turn the wheel.

I had a 97 Sport and thought just the same. You need to turn the wheel quite a way before it engages - not very good on tyres and steering components. I did not bother with it but used a clip on wheel lock instead. Turbo is just the same.
