Looking into buying some gauges and I was wondering what the difference is between the mechanical and electrical gauges??

Mechanical gauges are just that 'mechanical'. For example a mechanical turbo boost gauge will have a pipe running all the way from the engine bay to the back of the gauge to give you your reading.

Electrical guages use sensors placed in the engine bay. The hose will be very short and will have the sensor on the end of it. The reading is then fed to the gauge electrically. If you get Defi's for instance the feed will go to a control box and then onto the gauge itself.

Which is better then, as both will give the same readings !?!

Well mechanical tend to be cheaper however........ I have Defi eletrical gauges. As I don't really fancy a pipe with hot oil / water etc running into my car.

Hope that helps.
