Mine is a UK 98 and must have different wiring from your 97, I have a pinkish wire but it's 7 from the top not 5.

I can't find a wiring diag thats anything like mine

The ECU has S8 written on it, the 3 plugs are all yellow, double rows of wires, 13 across - 8 across - 11 across.

I'm fairly sure it's the blue wire which is 5 in on top row from the right but if I connect into this the meter goes yampy on open throttle and goes off when idling.

Question

When you say 'yampy' what does it actually read on wide open throttle? The link you gave me had all years on it i'm sure, could be wrong though

Actually I had it wired properly first time

I expected the leds to be more stable. During normal driving the leds flash up and down the scale but on WOT it goes well into the green and stays there which as I have since found out is exactly what it's supposed to do

Tell me about it, when i was first driving along i was like WTF is going on here

Apparantly it's because it's constantly adjusting for emmissions until you put the foot down when it just longs a good whack of juice.

Glad you've got it sorted anyway
