Cor, you're keen.

The garage said that there's no problems disconnecting those whatsoever (one is for the pretentioner, one is for the airbag).

When removing them, they did advise removing the battery negative lead and waiting 15 minutes to let all the capacitors/etc drain down - but then admitted that they don't bother doing that

I didn't ask about permanently removing the seat I'm afraid, so I don't know whether the airbag light will remain on if you remove the seat and replace it with something else.

Hope this helps

Nick.

PS - standard disclaimers apply! If you blow yourself/your car/your house/... up or damage anything then it's at your own risk. I'm just passing on the info from a Subaru garage

Hi all,

I´m trying to change my Airbag front seats by Buckets seats, could some one help me?
How may I disconnect the airbags on the seats without diconect the front ones?

Thanks

I'll let you know once I know for sure. It looks like there's two connectors on the base of the seat.

I would hazard a guess that disconnecting it might cause an airbag error to be displayed on the dashboard.

I'm going to have a word with the subaru garage before doing anything and would suggest you hold off until we know for sure that this isn't a dangerous thing to do. I can't see it causing problems, but you never know

I'm in the garage on Wednesday. I'll let you know what they say

It probably is needless paranoia on my part, but given that these things are mini-explosives, I'da rather not get it wrong!
