..........and what did you go for.

I'd love the 3 Defi's on top of the centre console but can't justify that sort of expenditure when the car is only slightly modded (PPP & Decat) and will more than likely stay that way.

Defi's certainly do look the best, can you get a pod to mount to the steering column or are they too big? If not, it looks like an A-pillar jobby in which case at least 2 will be needed, aside from Boost, what else should I go for with above mods.

Dealer talked me out of the Lamco one and said I could get something better for that sort of price.

Any help suggestions welcome

Cheers

Chris

I've just seen a twin steering column pod on Nito's website although this looks like its fitted to a classic. Anyone got one of these on a MY01/02 and know the cost?

Thanks

I spoke to j-spec today they only do a twin a-pillar for the new shape no plans for a triple.

Mail them at sales@j-spec.co.uk and maybe they will change their mind?

You should get boost, oil temp and oil pressure, and also a knock link sensor.

Oh yeah, and even on a standard car its good to have at very least boost gauge and knocklink, so with PPP and decat you should really think about investing.

I'm getting these before I ever START modding my engine.

cheers

Ed,

Boost guage is definately next on my list partly because it's relatively cheap to the other bits I currently want (a set of 18" Super L's).

I've seen various people on here talking about a knocklink but never really understood what it does. I don't really drive the car hard or do track days so not sure which route to take. Any idea as to cost inc fitting and where to get one from?

I've e-mailed Nito sport first re boost guage as I really like the look of the twin steering column mount.

Cheers

Hi m8,

do a search for knocklink. Basically the engine already has a sensor that listens for knocks, but the ECU often misses it, particularly above 5500rpm. The knocklink will light up when it hears 'knocks' from the engine which arise from unburnt fuel igniting and causing huge pressure spikes, which can potentially blow your engine.

Many people think even the standard car should have this fitted. You can expect to pay £140-ish but they are pretty ugly. I'm currently looking into various methods of retro-fitting the unit to make it more acceptable.

cheers

That SECS is a great piece of kit, but personally for day to day use I prefer to have analogue dials in line with my eye level. I appreciate you can set buzzers with the SECS, but with dials you can quickly / safely glance over and accurately check the readings. Of course, thats just my preference

I agree edcase but it does look well and you could still have the normal gauges as well

I had the benefit of a demo of the PSI3 on Sunday and it is a seriously impressive piece of kit, also appears to be a simple plug and play job as well. Very nice.
