Question

The defi I have in my car is white faced and lights up in green when you turn the cars lights on. Basically like the MY99 dash.

Question is, can I change the colour it lights up by replacing the bulb and if so how easy is it?

SJ

you could try asking Nitosport (one of the UK suppliers who advertise on the BBS) or see if you can find anything in the fitting / instruction pages of Defi Shop

The defi's are lit using led's which could be unsoldered and changed (i wanted to do this with mine using blue led's) however the only way to open them up is somehow take off the stainless steel bezel, and I dont think this can be done without damaging it.

If you find a way to do this let me know.
Cheers

Lightbulb

Ok, We’ve done it!
Between Nito & myself we have managed to take apart a Defi gauge (without damaging it) and replace the standard Defi Green & Red LED’s with Hyperbright Blue & White LED’s
This also involved changing some of the bias resistors to get the desired brightness out of the new LED’s

The results are actually quite stunning – pictures will follow soon!

Cheers,

Rob

Huxley Strikes again

Blue Dash Conversion

These bulbs would be handy to change the normal bulbs in some guages and could be modifed for other things as well.

Wink

Smiler1,

Now that would be telling

Hope to take some pic's tonight or over the weekend, will post as soon as we've done them.

P1JON,

No not as yet.
I haven’t even changed the LED’s in my own set of Defi’s as yet, as I wanted to see how good the results of this mod were first

This mod was done on a spare 52mm Boost Gauge donated by Nitosport
who was interested to see if this could be done.

However, this is not a cheap mod to do as it costs around £10.00 per Gauge in parts alone!

Cheers,

Rob

Rob

Looks great - good luck with doing all yours - be interested to see results.

Anyone know the size of the bulbs in the dash of a P1 - am in contact with Gecko but not sure which size they are!!

Cheers,

John.
