I'm with Direct Line, mostly because I've experience of their service when someone smashed into one of my old cars and drove off. I got great service from them so have been reluctant to change, throw in that my UK classic only costs £240 and I've no need to go elsewhere.

I've used Adrian Flux a few times, but wasn't too impressed with the last policy as the actual company it was with seemed a bit monkey and had weird clauses like the vehicle must be garaged at my address before 10pm every evening - brilliant.

Greenlight got my business 2 years running now, cheapest, fully comp, and thats with all mods declared. I found Adrian flux very pushy with me, wanted me to sign up then and there without comparing.

Greenlight wouldnt cover because i had to cancel my policy with them as i had sold the car, even though ive been with them on and off for around 8 years, so ill not be going back to them.

Keith Michaels never got back to me?

Flux waivered the £60 admin fee and mirror'd the NCB from my daily driver so i went with them. £390 FC with scope for future mods.

There are many factors involved in insurance as Gary pointed out on the phone a while back but I suspect taking the profile of the cars only, WRXs are more likely to fall into the wrong hands and attract the premium for that reason.

It is cheaper for me to insure my Cosworth than my R32 and I have no conditions on either. I guess R32s are more likely to be wrapped round a bus shelter!

Yeah, for all I know Direct Line get in depth feedback and find more WRX's crash due to faulty brakes than an STI! It's probably a very simple reason.

My renewal is in 2 weeks. Adrian Flux recently wanted around £650 from me. I'm going with another co who only wanted £375. I dont mind paying a bit extra for good service and/or knowledge of the cars, but I cant justify that much!

I'm with them too, cheapest I could find for my WRX! My old insurers Swiftcover who I had my BMW 330ci with wouldn't even quote for an Impreza WRX!

swift cover quoted you that sort of price as they don't really insure them.....I am with Direct line my WRX 09 hatchback

don't quote me on this as I may be wrong but at the end of the day the company you deal with underwrite it anyway don't they.....if you go to company XXXXX they sell you a policy but they don't actually insure the car do they as I think especially with the cars that have been modified they would be insured by the same company but you just get a better deal with different brokers

just my opinions

I'm with Gary

The problem with direct line ( and the like ),for me was they see ppp as a mod ,then the remap on top pushing bhp to 340 ish meant they would not insure the car as it was 80 odd bhp over standard. Plus with out tracker active theft from the car or theft of the car would not be covered.

Once under Gary's wing you are well looked after

Mines due on the 26th going to give Keith michaels a go tomorrow, they never got back to me last year after I rang them 2 or 3 times, I've also pm'd Gary with no reply so far but I'll try them once more tomorrow

I've been with greenlight last year who were great and cheapest by far, money is tight at the minute so I'm going to shop around first.

We keep an eye on the claim stats to see where the claims from and rate accordingly.

A few years back it was standard 03-04 WRX's that were having most claims.
Now they have settled down, and it's the STI Type R's that are becoming a problem...... so Type R owners start behaving yourselves!
