Check your policy when buying a new car - Test drives not covered.
Something that all buyers & sellers should be aware of; I spoke to my insurance company (A-Plan) the other day about cover whilst test-driving cars and they told me something rather surprising.
We all assume that if you have fully comprehensive and the other party has insurance that we're covered to drive their car with their permission. Apparently, this only applies in emergencies and not for test-driving cars when buying. For peace of mind, I took out a days insurance for £27 with eCar the other day when I was looking at a Scoob. They cover imports & modifieds.
It's also worth noting that not all fully-comp insurance covers you to drive other cars anyway. Mine (with Markerstudy via A-Plan) doesn't although it's unusual.
