Can the specialist insurers on here do decent/better quotes for older people? My uncle has just turned 80 and his insurance has rocketed due to age. He's still as sharp as a die and is no old dodderer. Gave him A-plan, Moley and Sky's phone numbers but not sure if they can help?

He just got rid of his old '98 turbo Forester and got a 55 plate (lower tax bracket) 2.5 turbo Forester which he really likes!

Would love to hear comments/advice from the big 3 listed above?

It's a tough one as the amount of insurers that quote after 80 do reduce somewhat, and what with a 200BHP+ Forester they are reduced further still.

IMO anything under a £2000 premium would be worth considering! (Sadly)

It's such a shame they dont take individual circumstances into consideration, but it's all based on statistics accross the board, and they don't read that well on the whole for 80+ year olds.

Cheers Chris - £1700 is his best quote through Saga at present - Bad postcode aswell I believe - SL1.

We'll wait and see.

I can only echo what Chris says, we find insurers do view drivers over 70 to be higher risk and the claim stats back this up.
