Default How are Direct Line with mods?

Hi all

Does anyone have any experience with Direct Line and nodded car insurance? I'm with them at present, having a few mods done next month and seeing some of the recent posts on here about rocketing premiums I have a feeling they'll stuff me

Cheers
Gary

Cheers mate that's actually good news as I'm assuming that means they can't charge me as I will be forced to switch insurers before my renewal date

Thanks guys

When your mate had the mod done and had to switch insurers do you know if they charged him a cancellation fee for switching before his renewal date?

I've had a good quote from A Plan, not got hold of Gary at KM yet so confident I have an insurance company to move to but don't want to get hit with a cancellation fee aswell

There's a difference between not covering mods at all and charging the earth for them.

To the OP, believe all insurers charge a cancellation fee of some sort. Should be a table os some sort with relevent rates on in your paperwork somewhere.

I spoke to Direct Line today and they do cover mods (to a point) and power upgrades up to 20%. The problem was the guy had no idea what i was talking about so I was not happy I would be properly covered. I listed Remap (it took him 20 mins to find out how to list this) and ehhaust which increased my insurace by £300 and thats before I went through anything else so I asked about cancellation, Its £26 admin charge which seems fair enough

Directline do do mods but they don't want to.

2002 STi UK, standard, £387.00 fully comp

I asked for a re quote adding prodrive rear spoiler, ht auto front splinter and sti9 bonnet scope and it went up to £890.00.

That was when Gary started getting pester off me.

Thats the feeling I got I hadnt even started listing my sti spoiler and 18 inch wheels or I think the poor guys head would have exploded!

I've left a couple of voice messages for Gary at KM he has not got back to me yet but i know hes a busy man

Awaiting a couple of othe quotes and will be phoning Sky and Adrian Flux tomorrow to see what they come back with
