Default 22 Year Old Insurance

I've just phoned Keith Michaels and A-plan about my upcoming renewal and have been told I need to be 25 to insure an impreza! God knows how I managed to get insurance last year for 1K, it looks like I'm looking at nearer 2k now and my circumstances have only got better, an extra years no claims and I now own a house. Looks like my impreza might be going up forsale

I'm waiting for Sky insurance to phone me back now, hopefully they have better news

fingers crossed for you mate.

I have been phoning around as well, last people i spoke to was Aplan. I want to get back to owning a scoob & now being 31 thought insurance would be ok. £750 ish yeh not too bad for a 94/95 import sti, but they will not look at putting the wife on the insurance due to her being 24. (oh well just me then )

Tried a few 'compare' websites with the wife included & its all looking at 1K plus with alarm, tracker 8K miles per yer, 10 yrs no claims, & parked in drive & supposed to be a good postcode to insure it under (shes got 5 yrs no claims etc) the most expensive came out at over £5k!!!!! they having a laugh!

Check their multi-car premium though against what they'd charge dealing with each car/driver individually. Couple of people at work were both offered multi-car policies which worked out more expensive than if they and their partners continued to insure separately.

I used them back in 2006 when I bought my 3rd Scoob. They insured upto group 17 at the time for 22+ drivers. Was paying £1750 fully comp with 0 years NCB and 9 months driving experience. Everything was totally legit also, as some dick pranged me the following April and I had to make a non fault claim. Still went down to £1250 the following December with 1 years NCB

its better off to ring the insurers as you can ask for the best price they can do it for, just say you have a better quote than what they give you (but be realistic) and see where they go with that. its what i done and then they changed it for me. ;P

read the small (actually quite big readable Print). eCar are an internet only site. All quotes yadda yadda are done through the site. Claims etc, are done via a phone number. Good luck

You do know insurers frequent this board, like Moley from Keith Michaels/Sky Insurance/A-plan etc.?

so maybe before hatching your master plan, maybe consider PM'in the recipient before climaing "this and that" over a public BBS

car insurance works on alot of different factors that is why every ones prices are diferent you could have 2 people the same age same ncb same car 1 could have a post code for the worst council estate in the uk and the other could live in nice country village thats never heard of car crime and you would see a big price difference

Hahaha! NOT in my case they weren't! I've had 4 multicar quotes now from Admiral as we have 3 cars in our household, they've worked out costing the same as all of the single policies just added together, no discount at all!

One (very) big company are increasing their prices by 25-30% in July.

As you said, personal injury claims are killing the market.

The irony is that performance cars like Subaru's/Evo's etc actually have very good claim stats (certainly with us), it's the Focus/Astra/Mondeo's etc (the everyday use cars, that people don't mind if they have a small shunt in) and commercial vehicles that are loosing the insurers money
