Are insurance renewals still rising...
even though you haven't claimed??
Just wondering as my insurance is up for renewal soon and it is apparently a growing trend that motorists who haven't claimed are having to pay extra to cover the uninsured drivers/accidents...
Gary @ KM has done a superb job at sorting my insurance out since 2007 but I'd like to know am I to expect a renewal higher than I'm paying now even though I have been claim free for 8 years?

They do seem to be going up slightly, anywhere from 5-15%, although some other companies are increasing them even more.
We still search the market however, incase we can move you to someone cheaper (but without reducing the cover)
Unfortunately the excessive amounts being claimed in personal injury at the moment means insurers are having to increase their prices to stay in business. (approx 78p from every £1 the insurers take gets paid out in personal injury i believe)

Bloody ambulance chasers...
Not happy about that as I hardly use the car now, don't need it for commuting so it's just a toy. I'll ready myself for the worst then. Renewal is due 10th July so I'll give you a call closer to that date and see what the 'damage' is (pun intended)

No probs mate
TBH i am in the same position.
I hardly use my car at all now, and have moved to a lower rated postcode...... but mine is likely to go up slightly this year aswell.

In all honesty I would be perfectly happy with paying the same again for my renewal. It doesn't have to be cheaper, just a bit hard to swallow at been more when I haven't done anything to justify it.

Search around, it can be cheaper!!!
I've saved £100+ this year. M&S who i was with last year wouldn't insure me due to the modified exhaust (which was fitted when i bought the car 18 months ago). Had the same hasstle with a few other companies, one wanted receipts and a rolling road print to prove the power of the car!!!
Called Sky Insurance and got it sorted in 15 minutes, under £500, 9+ years no-claims, 38 years old and all mods declared and covered like for like.

Me - being a ****, I'll be trying to renegotiate with my current broker just to shave off that extra few pounds stuck on since last year

My renewal with A-Plan had gone up more than £100.
Went with KM in the end who could only knock about £30 (or a £10 can't remember!) off my renewal price but every little helps.
Wouldn't mind so much but only do about 3000 miles a year! Never had a fault accident either.

I've put my scoob up for sale in anticipation of my renewal. The car gets used for about 20 - 30 miles tops per weekend and £500+ for that just isn't worth it. I know that only works out to about 38p per mile but add on petrol at £1.20 per litre (currently) and the fact that I only get 16mpg, it takes the enjoyment out of it somewhat. I'd rather spend that money on days out with my wife and kids.

I'm 30, full ncb (since provisional), not on a limited usage policy, full comp on my 97 sti (import) and paid a lot less than £600 last year.
May be as direct line aren't really import friendly in my experience.
