Advice for teenagers!
Hi
Just to pass on experience really I am 19 and have always loved cars. The best way to get cheap insurance is to slowly build up to the car you want I have found, I have found out that Imprezas seem to have higher premiums due to them being 'high risk' cars. I started with a 1.6 mondeo mk2, then a 2.0 mondeo Mk1 4x4 Si, which both werent too bad. When I turned 18 I bought a Ford Cougar 2.5 V6, amazingly insurance was only £865 (not bad for my age I know you OAPs will be amazed ). I kept that for 6 months and then upgraded to a VW Passat 1.8t, did a lot of work to it FMIC, exhaust, induction, remap to name a few and declared it all. Baring in mind I stuck with the same insurance company they seem to be more understanding if you slowly upgrade cars? I am now running a 2001 impreza sport special and although its a none turbo most of the quotes i got were over 2k, whereas I am now paying just over 700 fully comp! Proof that nice cars are not beyond young people :-) hope to see more teenagers investing in Subarus as it beats all my old cars hands down!!!

been driving my prodrive wrx since i was 21.
cost me £920 fully comp
that covers both my cars, including a 1.1 saxo,
4years no claims and no accidents, admiral multi cars works a charm

good advice mate
another way which one of my mates has done is got a normal everyday passat diesel and bought a trailer.
he then bought a subaru sti which he cant get insured on unfortunately and just trailers it to track and uses it as it should be used.
also saves him from accidental speeding tickets on the road as he's too busy looking at his beast through the rear view mirror and driving like a nanny so it gets home safely.
