Default How much does a remap increase insurance?

My 04wrx is getting sports cat downpipe/solid up pipe and JGM remap on wednesday next week. Also adding my S202 spoiler to the policy.

Paid £540 last year with Groupama through A-plan.

I have a few mods already and Groupama said any more and they wouldn't cover it.

Spoke to A-plan today and they said I would get a £120 refund back off my old policy and a new policy with Markerstudy would be £730 for the year (less the £120 rebate leaving £610 to pay)

I have not had any claims/convictions so is a 35% price increase about right? (I thought it a little steep)

I didnt think a remap was an insurable item. Simply as how can you in sure data stored on a chip?

I wouldnt of mentioned it in truth.

how regular do you use the car??

You increase the power output of the car and dont mention it? do you understand that it clearly states on your insurance policy about any increases or changes to the ecu/management system/engine performance, which is covered by this? Failing to do so will invalidate your insurance, so for instance if you map your car for 40 extra horses you have increased engine performance, it will need to be declared.

OP, yes you may find it increases your insurance, the spoiler and exhaust will also increase your insurance, the spoiler probably more so as it makes the car more cosmetically desirable, so you will have to declare the lot, but as already said by others, try KM

Phoned Gary and left message, also sent PM.

He has just got back to me via PM asking for basic details to see if they can be competative - fingers crossed!
