Default Run of the mill insurers

Hi guys do you find that your normal non specialist insurers quote through the roof?
I have been with a few companies in the past such as churchill and directline both are quoting £1000-£2000 which is insane for 26yrs, 8yrsNCB, 3 points cu80 parked on street.
My insurance went up when i moved house by £200 when i had my BMW 320 convert.
I am currently with A-plan for £650 a year with exhaust mods declared which i feel is good, if it is sub £800 this year then i will be sticking with them unless KM can come up with something special!
I think most companies don't want your business at £2000 per year. Who would pay it for an 2003 wrx!!!

When I was with Ecar 3 years ago, they only insured upto group 17 cars, so how they quoted you for a group 19 WRX I don't know. Maybe they've changed since I used them.

hopefully i won't get a shock when it gets renewed if it stays the same that'd something. I have heard a lot of people saying their insurance has gone up for no reason other than premiums have gone up.
