The only other thing I can suggest is putting a parent on your insurance as a named driver which might bring it down a hundred or so quid

Isn't that close to, or over the value of the car itself? I'd just keep the 8k and if you crash it, buy another one. :P

That can't be right though - I'd expect maybe a few thousand, but not 8.

Call Gary Moulson at Keith Michaels and Chris at A-Plan. They should be able to get that down a fair bit.

Did you pass your test at 16 or do you mean you've held your license for 4 years

21 with 1 years NCB and you're only paying £1000?

I'd check they haven't insured you WRX as a GL (if it was incorrectly registered by the DLVA) and are not rating it as the proper Turbo'd Impreza

There was a 1500cc model (Jap only) in the 2 door shape. Maybe that would be under 8 grand to insure but slow as ****.

Also, when on the insurance websites, do you put your answers in there in text speak too? That "mite" not help either

(Sorry couldn't resist).

Hmm, seems to contradict what Mr Moulson was saying on the phone the other day when discussing my car insurance.

He seemed to think that all the cheap quotes are given on compare type websites to reel you in and that when you call them, the price suddenly doubles.

Thats from an insurance pro on here, not some mate down the pub too.

This is the thing - there is NO definitive "best" place otherwise only one company would exist in a way. It's totally situation dependant. Things like your car (obviously), postcode, age.... feckin' loads of variables which change from one person to another. Moley will tell you this, especially with Scoobs and more how do we say 'undesirables' getting their chavvy mits on them. Thats a reason why more and more insurers are wary.

I was the same when I had my old Scoob - "oh yeah only group 17, will be expensive but not that bad". Everyone wanted circa £3300 to insure it. Moley at KM couldn't help me to start with as I was a relative new driver. See, GOD himself couldn't help (and he's really the best guy on here for insurance by a country mile IMHO), but an internet only based company (Ecar) came up trumps for half the above figure. Doesn't make sense does it?

Just ring up, do the whole details thing, make sure everything is legit (as again more ********* are insuring Scoobs under other peoples names/ownership or as lowly 'GL' models)... this is what bumps up everyone else premiums.

Seriously though, on here, try Gary Moulson (moley_wrx) @ Keith Michaels, Ollie @ Sky insurance, Chris @ A-plan. One of those should be able to help and if not, you'll be struggling (unless you got lucky like me)

Most companies don't want to touch under 25's at the moment, purely down to claim stats.

When i first got my Impreza in 2004 i was 24 and paid £1500, and at the time that was very cheap.
