Default Tracker or no tracker

Well, this is a good one. I might have a tracker installed somewhere on the car , it's subscription is due soon £132 in fact.

I called A-plan and it's only £60 more on my policy if I don't have a tracker on the policy.

With tracker - Extra piece of mind that it's installed. If it's stolen I'm not sure I'd want the car back.

Without - Money saving. Is there a reconnection fee should I change my mind?

Ask yourself this: If your car is taken, do you want it back?

My opinion is its not worth paying the extra on a car that to all intents is replacable. And there is no guarantee you'll get the car back (If I know where they hide the tracker unit, then plenty of thiefs do too) or get the car back in one peice.

If I were you I'd try to negotate with your insurer and Tracker; See if A-plan will knock off £72 off your current premium if you carry on using the tracker (72+60=132) .

Try the same with tracker; see if they'll negotatiate the subscription fee based on your insurance not offering you enough incentive.

Although from experience tracker seem to be difficult with negotiating a deal, still try cancellations and give it a whizz - what have you got to lose?

Re-registering a tracker should be £29 plus the subscription fee (£132)

Thanks Ali-b.

I've been thinking along the same lines, but will see how far I can push both side!

Tracker was not mandatory and I was offered no discount on my policy this year for having a tracker so I didn't bother renewing my subscription.
