Can’t Get Insurance Because I Fitted a Roll Cage
Hi to all you insurance brokers out their
I’ve had my classic 1994 Subaru impreza import for 15 years now my first insurance cost me £1400
My last policy ended in November and cost me £617 I have 2 lots of full no claims
1 on my car and 1 on my van which I use all the time.
I am 43 years old and never had a claim or any points in my life but when I informed my insurance company I had fitted a roll cage some new seats and harnesess they declined to renew my policy I have rang several company's now and they won't even quote.
The car is kept of road in my back garden behind 6 foot locked gates, chained to the floor
Thatcham CAT 1 alarm and tracker fitted I also remove the ecu and lock it in my safe.
Last year I only did 1100 miles in the car as I only use it occasional and in previous years I have never done more than 2000 miles
Now to the point there are people out their driving Subaru’s with roll cages and modified to the back teeth running double the standard horse power and all that
HOW THE HELL ARE THEY GETTING INSURED
They are either lying to their insurance company’s and not declaring the mods
or I am seriously missing something.
Anybody got any suggestions

Hi mate, give Aplan a go, my mate has just insured a car which is modified for the track, so roll cage, bucket seats, harnesses etc. He spoke to Simon who seems to be doing great quotes for us, i mentioned i was from scooby net so that might help!!!

i drive a well modified track used scooby
have no problem with insurance
but dont have roll cage or harnesses
as i dont intend rolling the car
could this be the reason they wont cover you
btw, why did you go for the roll cage

Sparkplug - i asume you have been speaking to the wrong companies.
As COB says.... call Gary @ Keith Michaels (me) and i will be able to sort something out, we specialise in modified cars.
Each to their own with mods.... but i do agree with Budgie, can't really see the point in roll cages enless it is a race car. I use my car on track, and don't have a cage fitted.
If you have a cage fitted and crash without wearing a helmet it can cause more harm than good (sure i heard that from several places).
But like i said, each to their own.
