21 Year Old Male, 4 Years No Claims....
Hi there ive just recently bought a v4 subaru impreza sti (import) 97 model
Im having problems with my current insurer Adrian Flux as there now saying they wont touch me on this car as im only 21.... even thought a few month back i enquired about insuring an impreza and they says i had to be 21 to get a quotation!! my renewal is end of october so im just gona have 2 find a different company to insure my scooby next munth.
my last car was a nissan pulsar gti-r (import) running 350bhp so ive got a history of having quite powerful cars
The Scooby has a cobra 4138 cat 1 alarm and immobiliser fitted and i live at a secure postcode
Can anybody recommend a company to try? i know im gona be payin a high premium due to my age but there must be somebody who will cover the car for a competative price?
Kind Regards Anthony

Mate,
If you have a history of performance cars try either Keith Michaels or A-Plan.
I'm insured via Gary at KM (aka Moley WRX - a user of Scoobynet) he is brilliant. Best prices and best service everytime.
Adrian Flux are pants for Imprezas.... I had a quote of something like £2.5k for a 27 year old with 7 years ncb and that was on a standard Type R. £895 for my first year with Moley and now down to 845 with all mods (see my scooby) declared.

another vote for KM ! i was insured through flux for my first year, 27 , 9 yrs no claims , it was a task to get them to insure me on my scoob as it was my first turbo car, i was paying around 1200 fc but with 500 voluntary excess and they wouldnt do anythin if it got stolen even tho i have a clifford. renewal came up and quoted me £900! called and spoke with patrick at km, am now paying £625 with all mods and no stupid excess etc, i got through first time of trying and realll really happy with the service, top guys!

I found A Plan were very good for me when I had my STI.
I now have a BMW 530D and they still gave me the best quote out there.
Can't recommend them enough.
Good luck.

£900 fully comp with swinton specialist
20yrs old, 2nd driver, 97 sti, had my license just over a year now
dads 1st driver, got 6yrs no claims
gone up from £600 living in barnet to £900 in seven kings because apparently seven kings is a "high risk area" :S

21, male, high performace car.....
You fall into the extremely high risk category
I have owned performance cars for oh, 16+ years, i still pay more than i would like, and i live in a nice area.
The only thing you can do is shop around, owning a performance car does not mean you can drive one well though

PS. If his no-claims in intact, presumably you paid for this off out of your own pocket?

Insurance companies aren't silly: if a car is registered to a young un, but insured by an older family member, they'll suss it out come claim time, especially if it was the younger driver behind the wheel....as was the case above. All well and good if you only bend the car a bit against the curb, but what if other vehicles are involved and, god fobid- someone gets hurt?
Being without insurance doesn't bare thinking about does it?

6 points and a slap on the wrist probably...
But so many people think that going on an older persons insurance with their car is legal, they dont seem to read the small print where it says "owner and main driver", apart from fraud, it will be added to your licence, then try to get insurance (driving without insurance!)
