Default Student Quote? How much roughly?

Hi guys,

Basically I'm gonna be needing insurance in my name next year as I wont be living at home (previously had all my cars insured through dads business as a named driver, all legal before anyone gets picky ) How much am I looking at?

Details :

Male, 21 living in oxford and studying motorsport. No no-claims as I have been on the business policy, been driving for 3 years with no accidents... including driving several large vans and some pretty fast cars with no issues. Have one speeding fine that will have been on my license for 3 years in jan!

Car is 1993 WRX with some modifications but nothing over the top.

cant see the quote being affordable but I thought I'd at least ask... otherwise I'll buy a cheap runabout, which isnt really a problem i guess.

Cheers for any rough figures!

Gaz

at 34 with 8 yrs ncb i pay 550 on a wrx with couple of mods! by the way points stay on for insurance purposes for 5years my 6pts are almost off now

you may get a discount if you use your dads insurer as they have some record of you being on the policy.

oh right, cool... I think my main problem is going to be my age though. does anyone have any insurers that are usually good with younger drivers? Cheers for the tip on using my dads insurer I will try that too.

without being daft, it'll be more than the car is worth. Yr high risk.

you'd also be better off getting a zero % credit card and paying that off each month for the insurance than accepting 29.9% insurers APR- esp if you a skint student.

ps you tried driving in oxford: you'll give up and walk/cycle in anycase
