Nurburgring insurance HELP!!!
I'm taking the scooby to Germany to race the 'Ring'. Only I'm finding it hard to get insurance. It seems to be a very grey area with insurance, either that or they just say no way. There must be companies out there?
So I need:-
A days insurance on the Nurburgring (4 laps, ish)
I'm 29 years of age
12 or 13 years no claims
On a car thats worth about £4000
Can anyone help???
P.S. has anyone else done this before???

I've had discussions with a few insurance companies, and they say:-
Yes, the 'Ring' is a toll road, but alot of the small print excludes you from track days abroad and especially the 'Ring'. I've read in a perfect world you need to be insured for fixtures and fittings to the track up to £10,000. Then if you close the track its £1350 an hour. I just just wanna be safe and on the right side of the law when I do this. So if the worst happened, I'm covered. Otherwise your gonna be trying to settle claims with insurance companies, trying to convince them you were not racing on the 'Ring'. Also if there was a bad crash, there are very limited recovery companies who will go onto the track.

1) Don't ring up and ask, that ruins it for the rest of us
2) Unless it specifically exclude the Nurburgring Nordschleife then you have to assume you are covered, at least 3rd party.
3) A lot of small print mentions a derestricted toll road. Nurburgring Nordschleife has several speed limits, so they must be talking about somewhere else.
Personally I'd go, enjoy, drive a few laps (and believe me you'll be far from racing) and don't crash. If you do crash, then put a claim in and keep your fingers crossed! This is big boys toys, if you bend it, you mend it. If you can't accept that, then don't go.
No insurance company will give you this in writing.

Also, if you do stop on circuit, you'll be recovered by the trucks at the ring (at a price), then your carefully selected EU breakdown cover will get you home from the car park.
