Hi Donny,
Although classified differently, commercial vehicle policies are usually just as competitively priced as car Insurance. They have different features that are geared towards the commercial/self-employed or business owner.
If however you are not within one of the above classifications and do not qualify for a commercial policy, there are some private car Insurers that will entertain van's on private car policies for pleasure use (ie. fishing, dogs to park) but that is more of a limited market.
Is the reason that you are seeking cover for your van on a private car policy in order that you can obtain the driving other cars extension?
Unfortunately, we don't offer cover for performance &/or modified cars so we dont have any preferential scheme for van's. There are Van Insurance specialists out there who purely cover vans, so it's probably worth searching for one of those.
There is a long standing user on here called 'Maclean', it would be well worth your PM'ing him as he seems to be somewhat of an oracle in relation to Insurance providers.
Maclean always provides decent sound advice as to who members should contact, even for obscure requirements.
Kind regards
Tony
