yes, ive had a quote of £2800 on a WRX STI 03 plate but was wondering if a classic would be cheaper to insure. Why wouldnt it be a serious question?

I have heard newer cars are cheaper to insure, was just wondering if that was true for someone my age?

No, usually it is the opposite

A 280+bhp car valued around £15k should always be more expensive than a 220bhp car valued at around £8k

Scooby matt I have done a few quotes and noticed that they are very random lol.

Thanks Moley, the reason I asked was because i was told on another forum that insurance companies see an owner of a more expensive car as more likely to respect it more.
Thanks for your help.

i wish things like that were the case. it would be nice if they took things such as "im 21 and receeding so wont drive fast" or "little fat so cant steer as quick". if that were the case my insurance would be free!!!

someones done alright for themselves lol (not jealous honestly )

like others have said mate shop around, use the net for discounts and get on the phone for a day, you really could save lots.

i started off at £3500 fully comp for my wrx (which cost roughly the same lol). made a few calls and had it down to £3000 a year (again too much considering ive got a mortgage lol). did some searches on the net, hours and hours of tweaking to make sure i had the right cover... and presto £2250 fully comp (£500 excess though). thats for a 21 year old, only been driving 5 months after passing my test, on a 240+ bhp car. reasonable all things considered.

get looking and do the research, you will save bundled if you know where to look and haggle.

good luck fella

If I swap my 2001 WRX PPP for a new STI (bugeye) with PPP I can get it for 300 less.. so what's all that about then... I can also get an BMW M5 and a 911 insured for less...
