Default STi 06 insurance with track/ring cover

Do any of the main insurers do this - wanting normal car insurance (with Egg at the moment)

I dont do many track days but am doing the ring later this year and want to know if anyone will cover that as part of the standard policy. Egg dont specifically exclude it but would rather not take the risk of not having specific insurance.

btw - got full no claims, driving for 22 years & 39 years old and a couple of small mods so far

Any recommendations?

The advert at the top of this page suggests Greenlight do exactly what you are looking for - I have no experience of them myself. I think a number of the specialist insurers offer this service.

I have used MORIS for specific trackday insurance as my insurer do not allow trackdays or extend cover to do so.

Hope that helps,

Mark

The ring is classed as a 'normal' road

I use L&V but you need to be over 25 IIRC not sure if on new policies they do cover trackdays. I have used Egar lawson Competive Car Insurance.

The ring is a oneway Toll road, but always read smallprint on Policies

BTW

Also be aware that "EU Breakdown cover" insurance can and do have an exclusion zone around the Ring and your if car breaks down or you have a crash in that zone your insurance is VOID.

A few years ago 16 of us went to the ring and all got AA GOLD eu breakdown cover, the best apparenty IIRC and we told them our destination and they never mentioned exclusion zone My mates engine died at the ring, he was only going slow on his very first lap, We parked it up outside the Ring and rang RAC and they told us then about exclusion zone and cancelled his policy.

There are always loads of trailers at the Ring just pay to get it out of the "zone"

"Subaru recovery" wont normally go to a Track or Circuit to recover or repair you even if you were only watching WTF, eventually I got them to see reason, Brokedown in Tesco's carpark is no different to be brokedown in Silverstones Carpark

the small print on my existing policy does nto exclude it specifically but as I said I cannot afford not to make sure and I do not want to call me current insurers and say do you cover the ring cos they will say no.

have a quote from eggerlawson already - trying to see if there are any others out there or insurers that will def cover it as part of overall risk or for a small add-on fee.

It's only going to cost a phone call or an Email and they might say yes

I am insured with liverpool & Victoria and had a accident at Japfest2004 (Castle Combe) two years ago and they paid up. luckily I had protected no claims Bonus.

I do ask on every renewal if trackday is still covered and have been told yes as long as you drive repsonsibly and it's a non timed event.
