Default £126 to cover spoiler.

Priviledge have quoted me £486 fully comp, protected no claims on my 04WRX.But they want an extra £126 to cover a Sti type rear spoiler. Is this a bit excessive or am I being tight?

I did wonder if I should wait until I've been with them for a few months,in my limited experience insurance companies seem to give better deals to existing customers than new ones.Look forward to see how you get on fritz.

sorry for the delay in responding.

I spoke to Privilege about changing my alloy wheels and changing the spoiler and a cost of (approx) £800 and £400 respectively. The increase would be £177 for the remainder of my annual, which is about 8 months, so pro rata its about £265 for a year.
I asked what the breakdown was, which he couldn't give (?) as they lump the modifications together. eg. the total for me is in the bracket £1001 to £2000 so i could improve the car further to a max £2000 and still pay £177 (if i have it correctly).

Based on what you were quoted it would seem to stack up. I must admit it was a lot more than i was expecting.

My excess would also go up by £200 but he told me this was mainly attributable to having a ban a while back (oops) which doesn't seem to add up as the spoiler and wheels aren't going to make me any faster .

Im 27 with full ncb protected and er speeding offences .

Cheers fritz, looks like I will have to console myself with the fact Priviledge saved me a fair bit on the premium and bite the bullet.
