Angry Unbelievable!!!!!!!

I just had my insurance renewal through from ATS Euromaster. £935.55.
Now I've been insured on my dads policy since I started driving. I am now 25 and we have 8 years no claims. I was expecting around £800 but anyway I'm not too bothered to pay the renewal, until I realised that it doesnt include my SP30 conviction!
So I went on Direct Line anyway to do a quote and it was £735 for the same details!!! And I thought ATS were part from Direct Line? Anyway, I was well happy until I put in the SP30 on there and it went up £150!!!!!! Still cheaper than ATS but £150!!!!!!!!! how can they justify that?!!! I could have only been doing 1 or 2 mph over the limit for all they know. I am so annoyed. Insurance companies must love all the speed cameras if they are charging that much per conviction!!! Imagine how much they are making out of it!!!
No doubt whne I tell ATS about the SP30 they will put it up to over a grand.
I'm so fed up, I really dont want to be paying that sort of money for insurance. My car is only worth about £4500!!! and they made me spend over £700 for a tracker!!!
Sorry for the rant guys. Any suggestions on what I should do??
I should mention though that ATS were tip top when it came to some dick smashing into my old scooby. I always said I would stay with them due to the way the handled the accident but now I dont know......

Tescos best quote is £948!!!

Looks like its direct line then. Just wish they would reconsider the £150 they want to charge me extra for the SP30! If it was only £50 then I would be well happy

Norwich Union were good to me, but not think you should be building up your own no-claims?

fitz - Im on my dads so it should be cheap

I cant really build up any no claims on my own as I cant insure the scoob on my own. I kinda ran into this problem when I was 18. I bought a Corolla GTi-16 which was group 13 insurance and I couldnt insure it! I had to go on my dads and it was still over a grand. After a few years it was down to £500 but when I bought the scooby it was back up at a grand again. I could never have had the scooby this early if I didnt stay on my dads insurance.
Im not too bothered about my own no claims yet cos I dont want to downgrade to a cheaper car which is what i would have to do. They dont seem to care that Ive been on my dads insurance for 7 years either. Theres nothing saying I cant be the main driver or anything. Anyway, it looks like Direct line will have the deal at £880. Thats not too bad I spose, and Direct Line are a good company to be insured with.

Direct Line and Privilige are one and the same - get a quote from Privilege though and I usually find it to be somewhat cheaper because of their policy on only taking drivers with 4 years NCD.

If your dad has 4 or more years NCD, then it will almost definately be cheaper than Direct Line. Personally having been a customer of both in the past I think they are a right bunch of ******* and a pretty **** company for service - but you gets what you pay for.

Even better now!! Phoned A-plan today, and their quote was £750, but thats with protected no claims, disclosing my alloy wheels & exhaust, and accepting that I am the main driver even though its in my dads name.
I'm well happy with that
