Jeez what happened to Frizzell/L&V this year?
Are they getting out of the business of Insuring Scoobs/high risk cars this year
Just had my renewal quote and for the first time in 3 years its gone up £200.. last few years its been going down because of my age!
Wont be renewing with them - dont want to pay £1086 for 2000 miles a year!

Not sure, my Frizzell premium didn't go up that much. It did go up though, which is always a bad sign.
By the law of percentages it goes to reason that if a company gets popular and therefore gets more business it will (eventually) get a larger percentage of "high risk" claims.
Either they're taking advantage of the business or there's been loads of expensive Impreza claims this year. I've got a nice £1000 bill for them shortly

I was on about £350 excess with LV to get the quote under £1k protected
Plus I'm not so concerned with excesses - at this level you'd still be pretty dumb to claim for anything under £1k...... Insurance is more of a 'disaster' policy where you only claim on large amounts - i.e. over £5k
If you started claiming for lower amounts it would effect your premiums over the next 5 years (having protected no claims would be irrelevant as you'd have your full no claims but would have a claim against you/accident)
Its for this reason that I insure the wife on her WRX04 with Norwich Union direct with a £1000 excess - the premium is only £500
And I've been driving for 15 years and the wife has been driving for 14 years and neither of us have ever made a claim against an insurance company - for that reason I would always go for the highest possible excess and save as much money as possible over time

Interesting. I've just had my renewal notice through from L&V and it's gone down about £50 to £604. I'd been expecting a big increase from the recent comments on Scoobynet.

Sounds like you need to give A Plan a call
Is this new for A Plan this year as last year I'm pretty sure that they were not as competitive
Greenlight - forget it........ maybe ok for mild Scoobs - dont know

£ 1032 . Yes £1,032 . No feckin way am i paying that. So called Subaru Insurance and any of the guys off here, who know me know ,that im looking For a P1 !. So while i was calling Subaru insurance i asked for a Quote on a P1. Protected no claims, £300 excess as per uk car i have.
Couldn,t believe it when he Quoted me for P1 = £ 636 .Do the maths gentlemen that leaves me with nearly £400 to insure the 1.3 Ka.
Ive not tried anyone else yet ,but up to now it will be with Subaru insurannce unless i can get a better Quote.

You must have had all mods done before LV changed their mods policy. If you want to modify further does that not cause problems, or is car staying as is?

No issue with mods and LV - they were never bothered. I didnt have to list them - think it was a case that 'all the boxes were ticked' and the premium was about £100 higher as a result. I can only assume that they have loaded more this year
Thing I always hated about LV is that I had over 10 years no claims, but they stated that if I used the 9 years (their max) and made a claim and they requested the certicate from my previous insurance company, with their max of 7 years my policy would be invalidated - hence when I started with them I had to disclose only 7 years no claims when in fact I had abot 12 years!
LV was not the only one to take the **** this year. I had a similar experience with Elephant on the wifes wrx 04. Last year £700, this year £1k. Went to Norwich Union Direct and got it for £500 (albeit with a high excess)
Clear thats theres less companies out there that will insure. I'm just glad that A Plan exists this year - I didnt have to go into umpteen amounts of detail on mods
With some companies they seem to go into an essay on it - total waste of time, as its like a 400bhp+ car so its still insurance group 20, maybe a little more desirable to steal but the only obvious giveaways at the moment on my car are the exhaust

I was expecting a shock from L&V when the renewal was due 2 weeks ago. As far as I can remember it was the same price as last year (within £10) and that was having had a claim (first one in 22 years). Very surprised.
No mods though - bog standard 03 WRX.
