I called the RAC up today to break the news that I now have the following mods to my car:

1.. Magnex 3.5" Backbox
2.. Magnex de-cat Centre
3.. MY00 spec front bumper (on a MY98)
4.. Gold Alloys

Expecting the worst they went off for about five minutes - then came back to say that since the mods come to less than £2500 they will not affect my policy.

Pretty good news eh?

Did you mention the dog1 security - mine malfunctioned recently and bit me :-)

I've declared STi back box, and ITG panel filter as mods to Adrian Flux... and was charged £42 on top of previous £650 premium.

I have one more mod left this insurance cycle (policy allows for 3) then I'll be looking for more mod friendly insurance, so will bear RAC in mind.

Simon.

Question

Original insurance was just on £900, but I only have three years NCB (company car previous) and this is for full business with my wife as second driver.

Next year it goes to £865 but now with protected NCB (although I'll believe that when they send the actual quote).

Simon: I believe you have the Spaniel(c) Dog1 system, these were prone to biting due to being slightly over-sensitive sometimes. We have the Collie(c) which is slightly larger, never bites and simply lets out a very low resonating growling sound should anyone come near

Cool

I was about £720, full NCD, 1 claim, 1 sp30, car is kept on street which pushes up the price.

Talking of Dog1 alarms, I seem to have regular problems with my Sh*tsu , any help or suggestions on this matter would be gratefully received .

Talking

Some comapnies are 23 friendly! I insured mine last year when 22 and with 3 points and 4 years no claims I had to pay the stupid price of £1500!! but the other day I was looking on Elephant.co.uk and was amazed to see that I could now insure a P1 for less!! maybe worth a try especially if your over 25.
