IMHO these search thingys for insurance are crap.
Just another middle man taking a cut, done one once when first searching for my ins. Cant remember the name of the company, but checked the name and contacted direct, it was hundreds cheaper!!!
And they dont search the really cheap companies, such as Tesco/Virgin/Elephant.

Good news for you is that I have insured a WRX300 for half what Admiral quoted, so with any luck if you try a-plan you might get away with £1500.

Thats what im saying guys. I am currently in a possition to buy a new/ my first scoob and finding insurance is a nightmare. i was originally getting quotes for a 4month old standard wrx which i could get for 16000 and was getting quotes of 4500+ or not at all. even on confused. but when i boshed in wrx300 i get an amazingly cheap quote of 3K. i cant believe it. At 21K + 3K for insurance its out of my budget though. there must be a system error somewhere. Il ring up.
Either way i thought that the WRX300 would never be available to insure as a WRX300? I was told that it will have to be a standard WRX + PPP or Mods? my dealer actually told me that it is illegal and would never work like this

I bought my WRX300 on day 1 that they came out so had to insure it as WRX+PPP as they hadn't heard of the model, but they know the score now I believe.
If a mainstream insurer will cover you, I'm certain A-plan will and cheaper - however you need to be able to prove ownership of previous performance vehicles.
As for the dealer saying it is illegal, if the insurer doesnt recognise the WRX 300 provided you explain PPP = +40 bhp, different seat coverings, gold alloys , tracker on the additional info on the proposal form, the insurance is legit. Dont worry anyway, Aplan know the score now.

cool. I just dont understand not covering the wrx but they will the wrx 300. i hope aplan ring me too. I cannot really justify the extra 4-5K for a spanking wrx300 when there is a steal on a silver wrx thats 4 month old and less than 5K on the clock. perks of having a mate who wrks there i spose! If i could get insured at 20 years old on a wrx for a year at under 3K im happy. it was going to cost me 2K for my first year on my C2 before i got citroen insurance contribution of £600.
after all thats what student loans are for right?

As I said earlier there does seem to be a glitch in the insurance software! That is why I am gonna get a WRX300 straight away! They are all quoting <400 for a WRX300 whereas a WRX is around £600 (for me)...
The only place I can find that quote the same for a WRX is Privilege at £450 for a WRX, but methinks that you will have to wait a few years for that!!!
A-Plan were not that competitive. They were for WRX + PPP, < £100 on top of premium. But for standard WRX, they were more expensive than most places (again for me)....
