I'm 23, I've been trying to get cover to do this, same as you not to beat the system just so I can drive a mates car somewhere or something if a situation occured. Companies consistently tell me they won't do it until I'm 25. There might be the odd company that will do it though.

FFS. All I want to do is drive my mums Punto when im home. Getting quotes for £670 for a Fiat Brava, I was paying £800 for my CRX, and that was when I was 20 with no NCB.

the reason it is so expensive because the poilcy has to be fully comp for you to have the ability to drive any other car not owned by you 3rd party. i am paying £1000 on a micra, it takes the ****.

Surely it would be cheaper (and still legal) to be a named driver on your mum's insurance? There is no benefit in having the TP cover you're after.

When I was 18, my first car was TPF&T, and that provided TP cover to drive other cars; over the (many) years since then it seems many companies have tightened up - not even all Comprehensive policies include it as standard.

I've been insured with HIC (Herts Insurance Consultants) on my second car for years - with TPFT cover, they automatically include TP cover to drive any other vehicle. They are also dirt cheap which helps.
HIC are on 08451 212 212

Thumbs up

Thanks for all your help guys. I could notget any company to cover me to drive other cars, they all said come back when your 25. Jeez, waited untill i was 17 to drive, then waited until I was 20 to get my own performance car, and now waiting until im 25. No wonder more and more people are leaving the performance car world. Its sad to say, but in over the moon in my Brava! lol
Thanks again
Kam- ps Tesco got me the cheapest TP F&T own car only, £530

Are there any limits with CIS though? Providing the other car is insured by someone else can you drive it as often as you want with the owners permission?

Very strange,
I also have this dilemma and at 23 no-one wants to know about insuring me to drive any other vehicle as policy holder. Apart from CIS who said they would offer this to me. Unfortunately they also said they wouldnt insure me on my 328Coupe Sport at 23 the only people who have point blank refused me, so i'm still no better off.
If u have any luck let me know!

I was insured from 22 till 24 on my Scirocco with AXAmotor, online AXA. Not only were they dirt cheap but got driving other cars as well. My sister has her Xsara VTR with them just now is 22 pays under a grand and gets to drive my Scoob TPO. Worth a try

Becareful, this is alot of people's misconception. The insurance company will give the driving other car benefit whatever the cover, aslong as you meet their criteria. This come's down to age, occupation etc
